Le Passé récent - the recent past
Le passé récent
The « passé récent » is used to talk about events that have just taken place. It roughly translates as “I have just done/been/eaten…)
In order to form the “passé récent”, you need:
1) to conjugate Venir in the present tense
Je viens
Tu viens
Il/elle/on vient
Nous venons
Vous venez
Ils/elles viennent
2) Add “de”
3) Add the infinitive of the verb
Il vient d’arriver - (He has just arrived)
Here are some verbs in the infinitive. Practise making sentences using the immediate future
Aller au cinéma – prendre un café – boire un verre – travailler dans le jardin – prendre le train de 11 heures – voir mes enfants – visiter le musée – nager dans la mer – prendre ma retraite – partir en vacances – voyager par le bateau – prendre la voiture – contacter l’office du tourisme – voir à l’office du tourisme – acheter un cadeau pour nos amis – attendre un moment
